The Buttons Screen allows you to program the buttons on your phone.  The image on the left  is for a Grandstream phone.  Snom phone programming is similar.
The top row, is for information only and cannot be changed.
Line mode is selected for a button, that button is used to make and receive calls.  Two or Three buttons should be assigned for lines to allow for call waiting and conference calling.
Call Park is assigned to allow holding a call to be picked up on other extensions.  You may program between 1 and 9 call parks.  Each call park needs to be a separate identity.
A BLF (Busy Lamp Field) allows you to monitor another extensions status and quickly call that extension or transfer calls to it.
Speed dial can be used to call external numbers that you frequently need to call
